During the third week of October, we move on from the apple orchard study to our "spark experience" field trip to
Learning Targets (just for the field trip):
I can list three animals that live at the farm and what they provide to people.
I can explain how farmers take care of the crops at the farm.
I can explain how farmers take care of the animals at the farm.
Logistics and To Do
Spring / Summer
Get in contact with Drumlin Farm and schedule a 3-hour visit that includes working on the farm with a working lunch. The cost is $11 per child but there are scholarships (we usually end up paying $5/ child). Be sure to send (or email) a letter to Robin for scholarship money to get this price reduced by half. Here is a sample letter:

Complete field trip request and give to Bo. Check with Bo about the bus and lunches.
Communicate with Robin about what focus we would like for the field trip and what chores we want to do. Mention bees, compost, picking produce, farm animal chores. Mention if there's something we could collect to bring back to school to count in math.

Let nurse know about our trip
Day before trip
Call Robin to confirm
Look up directions online in case bus driver doesn’t know them
Confirm with nurse in order to get Meds
Before the field trip activities
